Acts
of Kindness Bring People to Christ.
Although teaching English is not always high on a
missionary's list of most fulfilling ministries, it is
a tool that doors in many countries. "The
Chinese in Taiwan really appreciate English
classes," says C&MA missionary Mark Edwards.
Generally, Taiwanese are independent,
self-sufficient people, living in an affluent society.
They seldom see their need for God, yet creative
outreach is bringing them to cell groups designed
specifically for seekers. Church members practice
unexpected acts of kindness as a way to meet
strangers. One woman came to Mark's small Bible study
after she was offered refreshments while exercising in
the park. When she arrived at class, it "just
happened" that she already knew a fellow
classmate, a former coworker who had been praying for
her for years. "What a pleasure it was to see
this new class member gradually come to put her faith
in Christ," says Mark, who recently attended her
baptism.
Occasionally, Mark has the opportunity to visit
churches and training centers in Mainland China.
"It has been a rare and special blessing to learn
Mandarin," says Mark, who just completed his
first term as a missionary.
Mark Edwards serves as a missionary in Taiwan with
The Christian and Missionary Alliance. The C&MA is
committed to seeing peoples from every nation, tribe,
and language, around the throne of God. Mark will be
sharing at Harvest Chapel on Sunday, May 19th, 10:00
am.
Worldwide, more than 17,500 churches and church
groups are part of the Alliance family in sixty-seven
countries. C&MA missionaries are fulfilling the
Great Commission in fifty-one countries. Since 1887,
our mission has been to reach unreached and responsive
people groups for Christ. Come to the Missions
Conference to learn about God's plan to see those from
every nation become part of His eternal family.
