Ron and Rhonda Schafer, (plus their three boys; Nicholas (14), Nathan (11), Scott (7) and Hannah (no, not a sister; a Golden Retriever) arrived in Leesburg on July 15, 1999. Upon coming to Leesburg, the Schafers had been pastoring in churches in Florida for over fifteen years.

In August of 2000, a family the Schafers had known from Florida, living in Illinois, felt God’s call on their lives and moved to Leesburg to help plant this church. 

December 2000 brought the first public event for Harvest Chapel, a Christmas music/dessert night at Catoctin Elementary School. Approximately 105 people attended.

Starting in January, 2001, Harvest Chapel began holding monthly “preview” services at Leesburg Elementary School. For the next seven months, we have averaged about 50 at these services, and now plan to publicly launch, Sunday, September 9^th.
